Olympic Effort to Promote Healthy Schools

Watching the incredible feats on ice at the Sochi Winter Olympic Games reminds me of the heart-warming moment when Elizabeth Manley spun her way to a silver medal at the 1988 Calgary Olympics. Not too long ago, I had a chance to work with Liz, who graciously agreed to narrate a video I did for Physical Health Education Canada on health-promoting schools. As others have noted, the Olympics are not just about winning performances, but about winning spirits. Liz’s contribution to the community and to helping children live healthier lives proves she’s still a champion.
